Aus dem Kinderwald
projection (ink, acrylic and marker on acetate)
dimensions variable (depending on space, preferably wall-size)
Alluding to Johann Strauss II's waltz and Ödön von Horváth's play Geschichten aus dem Wienerwald (Tales from the Vienna Woods), the Aus dem Kinderwald at once alludes to and re-interprets drama inspired by real life and legends, with a specific focus on the perspective of a child. Subjects commonly associated with fairy-tales and myth enter the series and, depending on light and the constellation of visuals, are constantly prone to change appearance. Metamorphic in its nature, this series thematises the potential of imagination and memory and, in its specific relation to the child's mind and eye, conjures up the theme of changing perceptions as we grow and develop with the passage of time.
