miniature projection of moving image
12 x 8 cm
Palazzo is projected on the border of wall and ground so as to give the impression that there is a small door floating just above floor level.
The title presupposes grandeur which the miniature format of the projection subverts and thereby evokes a sense of disorientation. Further to an uncertainty over place, there is neither chronology nor narrative to determine a temporal point of reference. We are left suspended between a swaying curtain and an indefinite moment before the discovery of what lies beyond it.
The footage derives from a moment of uninterrupted filming in a space where videos were not allowed, hence adding an element of secrecy to the projection. Shown as a loop, this secrecy traps the viewer between a sense of not knowing what and if they will be found out and a torturous curiousity over the view behind transparent layers that appear to lead nowhere.
